A South African prison official killed herself after compromising photos of her being intimate with a prison inmate leaked on the internet.
South Africa’s News24 reports the incident happened on Monday.
The official worked at the Losperfontein Correctional Centre in Brits, South Africa.
The Department of Correctional Services is “shocked and grieved” at her suicide.
A team of counsellors is in the facility to provide support to personnel in the wake of the suicide.
The Department’s regional manager, Mandla Mkabela, has condemned the deceased official’s conduct.
“We want to convey our condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased official,” said Mkabela.
“This is disturbing and strictly prohibited,” Mkabela said.
