After Ndume, Buhari meets Saraki over Magu, SGF

After the meeting with the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume on Monday, President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, met with Senate President Bukola Saraki at the presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meetings have been seen by many as not unconnected with the travails of acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal.
Senate refused to sanction Magu’s appointment as EFCC chairman, and called for the sack and prosecution of Lawal, over allegations of corruption.

Critics have described the allegations on such ranking officials as a huge dent, on the reputation of an administration that boasts of a fight against corruption since coming into power as a major drive.
Some suggest that President Buhari may have opted for these meetings to be adequately briefed so as to know how best to handle and resolve the issues.
Saraki’s meeting with the President reportedly lasted for about 45 minutes and he was said to have observed the 4pm Muslim prayer before leaving the Villa.
