Agribusiness is no longer business as usual – Professor Miko
Country director of Sasakawa Global 2000 Nigeria, Professor Sani Miko has stated that Agricultural business in Nigeria has recorded a lot of positive development that requires farmers to brace up and adopt the newly introduced agricultural practices that will ensure high yield and production of qualitative farm produce.

Professor Miko made this know at Kwanar Kaugama in Kaugama local government in Jigawa state while addressing rice farmers during a media tour to areas where Sasakawa projects are being implemented.

According to him, agricultural activities are no longer business as usual as a lot of new technologies that include the use of improved seeds and the adoption of the newly introduce planting methodology among other developed agricultural practices aimed at increasing productivity are now made available to farmers for adoption.

He added that, farmers should endeavour to adopt the new innovations as against the traditional methods as a measure of moving agriculture to the next level in terms of increased in food production for nation’s food sufficiency attainment adding that the new technologies have been adopted and experimented to the farmers for easy adoption.

“These are technologies that we have demonstrated to the farmers in the farms for them to see and adopt. It is pertinent to note here that most farmers have begun to adopt these technologies without much ado as they have seen the efficacy of such processes,” said Professor Miko.

A farmer in the area, Malam Rabi’u Shu’aibu stated that, based on the adopted newly introduced technology rice farmers have started seeing indication that their worries of decades will soon be a history adding that they have seen the benefit of it that is why they have no reservation in adopting it.

He further pleaded with Sasakawa not to relent in its effort in transforming Nigerian agricultural sector to the apex.
